Trump Taj Mahal Expansion Set to Proceed

The plan of Trump Entertainment Resorts to carry out a $250 million, 800-room expansion to the Trump Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City, N.J. is already given the all systems clear sign.

There was a short period where the plan met uncertainty due to the New Jersey budget impasse, where casinos were forced to shut down in Atlantic City.

But now, an agreement has been reached, signaling the end of the closure, and the Trump project could now proceed without delay.

The expansion project entails a new additional tower to the existing casino, and construction is set to begin within weeks. The expansion project is expected to be completed by 2008.

"There's a very vibrant market in Atlantic City," a Trump spokesperson said, "and we believe additional rooms will create a great asset for the company, as well as the city as a whole."

The new structure will be a significant addition to the casino-resort, and according to the spokesperson, the massive addition is in tune with Atlantic City's rising pupolarity as a resort destination.

"As the Atlantic City market has been transforming into one that's more a destination resort model," he said, "we find that more guests are interested in staying multiple nights and enjoying the amenities."

"We would like to add a tower to the company every two years for the next 10 years," he added.
